Snow
This week has been a tough one. My niece's husband (Melanie's son in law) had a massive stroke. The outcome does not look too good for him. Please keep the family in your prayers.
SNOW AGAIN!!!! I love snow! We have about 5 inches and it is beautiful. Candi didn't have to babysit yesterday so she and Nathan spent the day with us. I'ts wonderful when they come for a whole day because we get so much done. I had planned on binding a custom quilt I pieced and Elmer quilted but we cleaned the basement instead. Melanie and I can flat destroy any organisation in about 2 hours. Candi is the organizer of the group! By the time she left, all of the sewing, cutting and quilting areas were neat and clean. I have shelves and shelves full of fabric for sale and it even looks wonderful now. My cousin Colleen spent days making the fabric shelves look beautiful. They looked like rainbows across the walls. She did this back in November and I have tried soooo hard to keep them that way but I don't think Mel tries very hard. She blames all the messes on me but I know better. I need to get binding on a quilt, finish piecing 3 memory quilts so Elmer can quilt them, meet with a lady that wants a memory quilt made out of her children's baby blankets and then I will be caught up with customers and can work on some baby quilts to sell. I have also been wanting to make some "memory" teddy bears out of mom's clothes. I saw pictures of them on the forum I belong to and they are adorable. I would like to make 1 for each of her great - great grandchildren. I know I need to work on things to put in the shop to sell but my excuse is, I have to make a few practice things so I can do it perfectly when a customer orders one. It sounds good to me but I am not sure Elmer and Mel will buy into it.
I am still working on getting pictures into albums so that anyone who visits our blog will be able to see them. I hope to have that up and running soon. Once it is in place you can just call us if you see something you are interested in.
Thanks for stopping by.

Saturday morning!
Don't you just love Saturdays? I don't have an "official" job anymore but I still look forward to Saturday. During the week Melanie has an annoying habit of arriving very early to get to work. For those of you that don't know...Mel is my brother's wife. We have started a business doing all sorts of crafty things. My daughter Candi also recently joined us in this endeavor. We have turned my basement into the official work area. I guess that is why Mel arrives here so darn early. I'll give you a quick run down of who does what. First and most importantly, I am the boss!! I piece quilts and keep everyone else in line. My husband Elmer uses our huge APQS quilting machine to quilt them after they are finished. I keep hoping I can get him to try piecing someday but he is a typical guy......he only wants to work with the monster machines. He does beautiful work. Next, there is Mel and I'm not sure how to describe her, other than I don't think she ever sleeps. Mel owns 2 industrial embroidery machines and has made some gorgeous stuff. She just recently jumped into quilting and is doing a great job. The only thing she is having a problem with is ironing correctly (wonder how long I can convince her she needs to do all the ironing so she gets practice?) Candi is my daughter, and she is so talented. She is doing some beautiful crochet work. Candi is the one we call when we are in a pinch or don't quite understand a quilt pattern. She is an amazing quilt piecer. Last but certainly not least, my sister Linda and her daughter Debbie live a couple of hours from here, but when we get behind they rush in for a weekend of work - work - work to help us catch up.
We will be posting ideas, tips and photos when we have time (Mel has the most time because she doesn't sleep!). We hope you enjoy your visits to our blog.
